Journalists receive ‘death envelopes’
Related to country: Pakistan

Two senior journalists and a photographer found bullets left as death threats in their cars, on Tuesday night right outside the Karachi Press Club. An envelope each, containing pistol bullets, was stuck on the driver’s side of the windscreen of the cars of two journalists including AFP’s reporter Mazhar Abbas and photographer Asif, while the driver’s side window of the car of Zarrar Khan, journalist of the Associated Press was rolled down and a bullet was found on the driver’s seat. The reporters handed a written complaint to the Karachi CCPO and Saddar TPO. A list issued by the Muhajir Rabita Committee is assumed to be the reason behind the threats. The Karachi Union of Journalists and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists have called for a protest meeting at 1pm on Thursday at the Karachi press club.
